[edit] Country borders
The longest border between two countries is the border between the United States and Canada. Officially known as the International Boundary, it is generally unmilitarized. The terrestrial boundary (including small portions of maritime boundaries on the Atlantic, Pacific, and Arctic coasts as well as the Great Lakes) is 8,891 kilometres (5,522 mi) long, including 2,477 kilometres (1,539 mi) shared with Alaska. See main article at Canada–United States border.
The country with the longest borders is Russia, which has land borders with the following countries (counter-clockwise from northwest to southeast): Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia, and North Korea. The total length of these borders is around 20,139 kilometres. [1]
Both China and Russia border the largest number of countries at 14.[2]
[edit] Subnational borders
In Australia, New South Wales has the longest border of any State, with 4635 kilometres of borders.[3]
