[edit] Album links

big ones and super hits go to albums of the same name by different artists, i'm not sure how to fix that. --gb 09:28, August 21, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Loverboy Weather-Project

My project on Loverboy has begun. I will put up pages for all albums, improve the article, and add pages for certain hit singles. Weatherman90 20:16, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] TO DO

  • Makeover Main Page
  • Make Pages for All Albums
  • Make Pages for All Singles
  • Add a Loverboy menu to the bottom of all album, single, and band member pages
  • Make Pages for all Loverboy band members
  • Check over all pages and fix red links, proofread, check for quotes around songs, etc.

[edit] Failed GA

I'm failing this GA as it's not written in an enyclopedic tone. I've tagged a few problematic statements in the lead (many of them aren't so much "citation needed" as "tone it down" or "are you sure?").

The problems continue into the article, with statements like:

  • "The orgin of the band began in Calgary"
  • "a long nine years" (that's opposed to a short 9 years then?)
  • "They released the song as a single, and it soared to the number five spot on the Billboard charts." Soared to #5? Hmm.
  • "in the decade they dominated - the 80s." - maybe in Canada, and if so that's fine, but you're writing to an international audience and I can assure you they didn't dominate here. You need to tone it down. Also, please do tell us how they fared outside North America.
  • He was "tragically declared dead". Dying might be tragic, the declaration less so. Either way, we don't say deaths are tragic unless there was something truly gut-wrenching about it. See The Shamen (one of my favourite bands) - "On May 23rd, Sinnott drowned in an accident off coast of La Gomera." No "tragic", no commentary from us at all. However: "Colin Angus later said: "When it first happened, I was still reeling from the shock of Will's completely unexpected and tragic death..."" That's OK, we're quoting his bandmate now.

This is typical of a fan written piece, so don't be too alarmed, but it needs great improvement before it can be classed as a GA. --kingboyk 21:31, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

  • All of the above have been fixed. Weatherman90 18:24, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] GA Fail

Lots of problems,

[edit] Fixed

  • Flag should be before the location, not after
  • Loverboy is a Canadian rock group which was very popular in the 1980s in North America, Uhh popular is POV, take this example from Nightwish which is a featured article, Nightwish is a Finnish power metal band formed in 1996 in the town of Kitee. It should describe their genre, year they formed and maybe formed by who in the first setence.

[edit] Not Fixed

  • References are not formatted properly, please check {{cite web}}
  • References go after punctuation with no space
  • It has a trivia section, it needs to be removed or incorporated into the body.
  • Years alone should not be wikilinked, ex 1982, Unless it reflects significance to the bands career, so the year they formed (which should be mentioned in the first sentence) should be linked to 198x in music.
  • Lead could be split into two paragraphs
  • Bassist Scott Smith died in 2000., this is just stuck on the end with no flow
  • The 1987 release of Wildside followed, which would be Loverboy's last album released in the decade that brought them their best success - the 80s. You mention the year then the decade, remove - the 80's
  • Not much flow throughout the article, the band' they' the band did' the band sold etc
  • 1987 to today, 1987-present
  • You mention great success, big hit etc too much and is POV
  • Images required fair use rationale
  • A fair use image should not be used in the infobox as it could be replaced with any image of the band
  • References required here
  • They released the song as a single, and it reached #5 on the Billboard charts.
  • Bon Jovi to help raise money for a friend and fellow recording artist Brian MacLeod of Chilliwack who was fighting cancer
  • All album and single places on the charts
  • This led the band to receive an unprecedented six Juno Awards,

I haven't read it all but it fails almost all the criteria, it needs more references and flow throughout the article. I suggest you get a biography peer review, a fan of the band to read and make some edits then try for GA again, goodluck with whatever you do. M3tal H3ad 06:59, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
