Lysakerelven (station)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lysakerelven is a station in western Oslo on Kolsåsbanen on the Oslo T-bane network, between the stations of Bjørnsletta and Jar, 8.4 km from Stortinget. It is the last station within Oslo's boundaries before the line continues into Bærum. In fact "Lysakerelven" (Norwegian for "The Lysaker River") is the boundary river between Oslo and Bærum. The station was opened on June 15, 1942[1]. Since July 1, 2006 the station has been closed along with most of Kolsåsbanen due to upgrades, the station is expected to reopen in 2008.
The future status of Kolsåsbanen has been debated, and one suggestion which was made was to end the line's subway service in Bærum entirely and replace it with trams, making Lysakerelven the end station. This option proved unpopular with passengers.[2]
