Main North Road is a major road north from Adelaide in South Australia.
It is the major arterial route from Adelaide to the northern suburbs including Gepps Cross (where National Highway 1 or Port Wakefield Road branches off), Salisbury, Elizabeth and Gawler. The Sturt Highway branches east from Gawler, while Main North Road continues northwards. The Barrier Highway branches northeast towards Burra, and Main North Road continues through the Clare Valley. Beyond Clare, Main North Road passes through the Southern Flinders Ranges to Wilmington at the eastern side of Horrocks Pass, and then back west again to Stirling North and the Princes Highway, just outside Port Augusta.
The city end of the road is a major route for commuter traffic to the Central business district. The Adelaide Metro runs a 15 minute 'Go-Zone,' with the maximum wait for a city-bound bus being 15 minutes.
