Manger
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A manger is a trough or box of carved stone or wood construction used to hold food for animals (as in a stable). Mangers are mostly used in livestock raising. They are also used to feed wild animals, e.g., in nature reserves.
A manger is also a Christian symbol, associated with nativity scenes where the baby Jesus used a manger in place of a crib (Luke 2:7).
A favorite Christmas carol is "Away in a Manger."
In french, manger means to eat.
Manger is also the last name of Yiddish poet Itzik Manger.
