Mark O'Connell (drummer)

Mark Francis O'Connell (b. May 6, 1981) is the drummer of the American alternative rock group Taking Back Sunday.

Born May 6, 1981, O'Connell was born and raised in Long Island. He joined his first band, called Burnt Toast, at the age of 8. O'Connell attented Nassau Community College and worked as a car valet. He has a pit-bull and likes bands like Metallica, The Beatles, and Led Zeppelin. Mark has known Matt the longest out of all of TBS. He has described himself in four words as, "jock, baseball, weed, music." His two favorite things to do are drum and play golf. His influences include Rancid and Operation Ivy. He grew up with ex-member Shaun Cooper. Mark played drums on Straylight Run's demo songs, although he was not credited for playing.

- He was featured in an article in Modern Drummer about Dave Lombardo. He really enjoys Lombardo's work with Slayer and said that Divine Intervention is an amazing album. However, little did he know that Lombardo didn't even play on that record.
