Marple Bridge is an affluent village near Marple , England. Prior to 1974, Marple Bridge was part of the county of Cheshire . Historically, Marple Bridge is a Derbyshire village (being east of the River Goyt ), though it is rarely referred to as such today. Until 1936 it was in the Ludworth civil parish. Today it is part of the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport in Greater Manchester. It shares borders with Mellor, Marple, Compstall and Chisworth.
The River Goyt runs through the centre of the village.
The village is served by two railway stations: Marple Station and Rose Hill Marple, both on the Hope Valley line.
