Martina Moravcová (born January 16, 1976 in Piešťany) is a medley and freestyle swimmer from Slovakia, who made her international senior debut in 1991 for what was the Czechoslovakia. She competed in four consequentive Summer Olympics, starting in 1992 when she was just sixteen years of age. She is one of Slovakia's greatest female athletes, although she lives in the United States in Dallas, Texas, where she is trained by Steve Collins.
Moravcová's autobiography was published in December 2003 in her home country, shortly before she was voted as the Slovakia’s Sports person of the Year for the amazing sixth time since 1993. The title of her book is Martina s rodokmeňom Evy, which is loosely translated as Martina with the pedigree of Eva. Although intriguing, the title of the book is quite simple; Eva is the name of the old thermal swimming pool in the famous Piešťany Spa. Because her parents’ swimming careers began at Eva it was only a matter of time before Eva would also become a starting mark of her journey.
