A drummer, electronic musician, and recording engineer, Max Henkel is currently residing in Chesterfield, Virginia. His notable contributions to the local independent punk music scene have included recording sessions for such bands as the Dismemberment Plan, Maximillian Colby, the Sleepytime Trio, Eucharist, and multiple others. In the early '90's, Henkel played drums for the Richmond based post-hardcore band First Five Through, which released a 7" and toured the east coast numerous times and the United States once, before their dissolution during the recording of their LP, still unreleased. Immediately following his time in First Five Through, he released a record of self-described "emo-industrial" music under the moniker In Search of Obsession. After this, he played keys and controlled other electronics involved in the Men's Recovery Project, appearing on the split with Sinking Body, Grappling With the Homonids. During his time in the MRP and after as well, he played keys for and engineered the band Vellum.
