- Marketed by emphasizing the urbane jazz related Mello Yello.

I have removed the following from the article:
In contrast to Mountain Dew's original hillbilly-themed advertising, Mello Yello's early marketing campaigns emphasized ties to a more urbane jazz culture.
The very first advertising campaign for Mello Yello was "The world's fastest soft drink," which I have added to the article. I didn't have time to learn how to do references, so if someone wants to add this, they can: http://www.burkhardworks.com/pullroots.htm#MELLOYELLO (link to advertising agency). I couldn't find anything on the web about the commercial I mentioned, but I remember it. I don't even know what the above "urbane jazz" reference is talking about. Did the contributor mean "urban jazz"? And if so, how was Mello Yello linked to it? If there really is something to that, it can be added back.--emw 16:56, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not really certain of the origin of it, myself. I know I've read it elsewhere before, but I can't remember where. Either way, what I think the fellow who originally inserted that was trying to convey was that the early Mello Yello advertising was supposed invoke an "urbane" ("notably polite or polished in manner" according to Webster), refined feel by associating itself with the city life, and jazz culture, as part of an effort to elevate itself above Mountain Dew's hillbilly advertising. However, if I'm not mistaken, I think Mountain Dew had already dropped that motif years before. If that's the case, it seems a bit moot. Oh well. Not my field of expertise. Hopefully that clarifies what was trying to be said with "urbane," though. --Matt S. 22:06, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

It is available in NZ again. I am not sure how recent though. But it is fairly recent that they started selling limited edition mello yello.
