Mile End Park
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mile End Park is a park located in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It is a linear park of some 90 acres (36ha), and was created on land, originally industrial, devastated by World War II bombing. It lies on land to the east of the Grand Union Canal and is virtually a southern continuation of Victoria Park.
Extensive development was performed in the last half of the 1990s. A pedestrian bridge, opened in July 1999, was built over the Mile End Road, which bisects the park, near Mile End tube station.
[edit] Mile End Stadium
Mile End Stadium, situated at the south end of the park, is currently being refurbished. In addition to new changing facilities, a new sport and fitness centre with swimming pool is currently under construction.
