Minnesota's 7th congressional district covers almost all of the western side of Minnesota except for the far south, which is Minnesota's 1st congressional district. It is a largely rural district. The district is solidly Republican with a CPVI of R + 6.[3] It has been represented by DFLer Collin Peterson since 1991, a moderate, scoring 50% conservative by a conservative group[4] and 57% progressive by a liberal group.[5] The largest city is Moorhead.
