Monkey Gone to Heaven is an alternative rock song by the Pixies, and the first single from their 1989 album Doolittle. Known for cryptic lyrics which many have tried to interpret, they are, according to the band, meant to be surreal and meaningless, built around the title. A common speculation is that they are lyrics of an environmentalist stance.[1]
It is the group's only entry on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time (ranked #410).
A verse from the Bloodhound Gang song "Fire Water Burn" alludes to the lyrics of "Monkey Gone to Heaven": "I'm not black like Barry White no I am white like Frank Black is So if man is five and the Devil is six than that must make me seven/This honky's gone to heaven"
