Mortician is a death metal/brutal death metal band from Yonkers, New York founded in 1989. ^[1] They have released most their albums since the House by the Cemetery EP on Relapse Records but have released their latest album on their own label, Redrum records.^[2] They have toured several times through America and Europe. The band is heavily inspired by horror movies, which is expressed in the lyrics, the artwork and the use of samples throughout their discography. They're mainly characterized by their brutally heavy riffs, being only 2 members.

The band uses a drum computer on their albums, after their original drummer Matt Sicher died in 1992. However, when performing live, a replacement drummer is hired.

In 2005, vocalist Will Rahmer was arrested by Polish police for stealing a taxi following the band's performance in Zielona Gora.
