Morton is a city in Lewis County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,045 at the 2000 census.

Morton was officially incorporated on January 7, 1913. The city was named after Benjamin Harrison's Vice President, Levi P. Morton, in 1889. Historic sources of revenue included logging, harvesting of cascara bark, and mining for Cinnabar (Mercury) in local mines. Morton was once known as the "tie mill capital of the world" in the 1950's. The longest railroad tie dock in the world ran along the railroad tracks east of Morton.[1]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.7 km² (1.0 mi²), all land.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 1,045 people, 437 households, and 273 families residing in the city. The population density was 388.0/km² (1,000.7/mi²). There were 487 housing units at an average density of 180.8/km² (466.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 95.41% White, 1.24% Native American, 0.67% Asian, 0.38% from other races, and 2.30% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.15% of the population.
There were 437 households out of which 27.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.0% were married couples living together, 9.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.3% were non-families. 33.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.32 and the average family size was 2.91.
In the city the population was spread out with 24.7% under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 21.9% from 25 to 44, 22.1% from 45 to 64, and 24.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 90.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 83.0 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $31,063, and the median income for a family was $37,054. Males had a median income of $36,607 versus $23,438 for females. The per capita income for the city was $16,275. About 6.9% of families and 14.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 18.1% of those under age 18 and 6.8% of those age 65 or over.

Morton is a fairly Republican area, although less so than Lewis County as a whole. The results for the 2004 U.S. Presidential Election were as follows:

- Ralph Nader (Independent) - 3 (0.62%)
