From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Moulsford Railway Bridge lies a little to the north of Moulsford and South Stoke in Oxfordshire, UK. It was built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel between 1838 and 1839, at the same time as he built Maidenhead Railway Bridge and Gatehampton Railway Bridge. It carried the Great Western Railway over the River Thames, and is now part of the Great Western Main Line from Paddington, London to Plymouth. The nearest stations are Goring & Streatley and Cholsey. It has four arches of 62 ft span, with a headway height of 21 ft 8 inches. It is constructed from red brick with Bath stone facings. In between the arches there are refuges to protect workmen form the trains.
