Just like the rest of kerala, paddy fields are widely reclaiming in Nayarambalam. Once there were acres of fine wet paddy fields. Pokkali paddy-cum-prawn farming (cyclic farming method) was the traditional practice for farming. This farming method may be one of the most eco-friendly of all farming practices in the world. But what happens these days, nobody takes care about it and paddy fields become infertile for so long years. After 5 or 6 years those infertile fields became reclaimed and sold for huge price.
There is no other crops are cultivated at Nayarambalm. For more info : http://www.hinduonnet.com/thehindu/mp/2002/10/10/stories/2002101000920100.htm Saintthomas 06:18, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
