New Länder

The New Länder (German: Neue Länder) are collectively the states (Länder) of the former German Democratic Republic (East Germany) that joined the Federal Republic of Germany upon German reunification in 1990. These New Länder consisted of five states: Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Saxony, Sachsen-Anhalt and Thuringia.
