Talk:Newspapers of Hong Kong
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Good article - a great improvement on my paltry effort. Aside from integration, needs some obvious grammatical editing - I'll do this once the clamour has died down. - David Stewart 06:35 16 Jul 2003 (UTC)
- Um, just noticed that someone has posted the images of the logos of these newspapers. These are registered trade marks used without permission, which under Hong Kong law is an infringement. Unless anyone says anthing to the contrary within the next 48 hours, I will remove these. - David Stewart 08:48 16 Jul 2003 (UTC)

- There're logos on the various articles about the newspapers too. I guess they should be removed too. --Lorenzarius 09:37 16 Jul 2003 (UTC)

- So I've just seen. They should all go, unless the publishers say its ok. - David Stewart 14:08 16 Jul 2003 (UTC)

If its illegal under Hong Kong law, why are the people from Hong Kong doing it? I think this is fair use. Pizza Puzzle
- Well to be fair to David Stewart, just because people are doing it, don't make it right. :) Case in point - all the pirated CDs and Mongkok and Sham Shui Po. But see my post in the Talk:Apple Daily section for more. (Fuzheado)
-
- Its not bloody "fair use". We don't even use the term in Hong Kong. - David Stewart 14:55 16 Jul 2003 (UTC)
I don't know if we, in outside Hong Kong, should be at all concerned with Hong Kong law. They certainly aren't concerned with American copyright laws!!!!! ROTFL Pizza Puzzle
- Does it make any difference that the Wikipedia.org server is located in California? <grin> But really, how does this all mesh with the mention of fair use in Wikipedia:Copyrights and its legitimate role in Wikipedia entries? (Fuzheado)
No, in Gutnick v Dow Jones Dow Jones' servers were in New York. The rest of my explanation on how this infringes IP laws in HK seems to have been deleted...? - David Stewart 02:58 18 Jul 2003 (UTC)
...along, I see, with the images. Good. - David Stewart 03:00 18 Jul 2003 (UTC)
