North Fork Bank

North Fork Bank is an American bank headquartered in Melville, New York, and now owned by Capital One. The bank serves the New York City metropolitan area with over 350 branches, and they have around $ 60 billion in assets. North Fork Bank CEO John Kanas incorporated the bank in 1980.
In 2005, North Fork Bank acquired Brooklyn, New York-based Greenpoint Finance Corp. By late-2005, all branches of Greenpoint Bank were rebranded to North Fork Bank.
On March 12, 2006, it was announced that the bank was to be sold to Capital One for $14.6 billion U.S. dollars. Now that the merger is complete, the bank is to be renamed and rebranded as "Capital One Bank".
