Peter Drucker

Peter Ferdinand Drucker (19. november, 1909 – 11. november, 2005) var en østerriksk forfatter av flere økonomirelaterte bøker. Som sønn av en embetsmann i Habsburgriket, ble Drucker født i en forstad i Wien, en liten landsby kalt Kaasgraben. Etter Østerrike-Ungarn gjennomgikk nederlag under Første verdenskrig, var det få jobbmuligheter i Wien. Derfor dro Drucker til Tyskland etter han var ferdig med skolen, der han først arbeidet i bankvesenet, for deretter å arbeide som journalist. Han fikk også en doktorgrad i internasjonal lov mens han oppholdt seg i Tyskland. Nazismens fremvekst tvang ham til å forlate Tyskland i 1933, og etter noen år i London, flyttet han for godt til USA i 1937, der han virket som professor og forfatter.
I 1943 ble Drucker amerikansk statsborger. Han underviste ved universitetet i New York som professor i administrasjon fra 1950 til 1971. Fra 1971 til sin død virket han som professor i samfunnnsvitenskap og administrasjon ved Claremont Graduate University.. Han ble tildelt Presidentens frihetsmedalje 9. juli 2002 av president George W. Bush.
