USAs grunnlov

USAs grunnlov er den overordnede lov i Amerikas forente stater. Den ble vedtatt den 17. september 1787 ved kongressen i Philadelphia, Pennsylvania og senere ratifisert av delegater fra de ulike statene som dannet USA. I det delegater fra ni av de tretten statene hadde ratifisert dokumentet markerte det dannelsen av en union av selvstendige stater og en føderal regjering for å administrere unionen.
USAs grunnlov trådte i kraft den 4. mars 1789 og erstattet da den svakere unionen som hadde eksistert under konføderasjonsartiklene. USAs grunnlov er en av de eldste som fremdeles er i bruk (den eldste tilhører republikken San Marino) og den eldste føderale.
