"Of Wolf and Man" is the ninth song of American heavy metal band Metallica's self-titled, 1991 release (aka The Black Album). James Hetfield was inspired to write this song by the movie "Wolfen". It is about werewolves, or more specific, lycanthropy, the transformation of a man to a wolf. As represented by the bridge lyrics "I feel a change/back to a better day." And the reference to the moon in the line "Bright is the moon high in the starlight".
