Old Dee Bridge

The Old Dee Bridge, in Chester, Cheshire, England is the very ancient bridge that leads from the bottom of Lower Bridge Street and the Bridge gate across the River Dee to Handbridge/Tre-boeth. It has seven arches, all of which are of unequal dimensions. The bridge is widely believed to have been begun on, or around 1387. It succeeded a number of other bridges that had either been burnt or washed away. There had been a river crossing place, or ford since pre Roman times, this tends to give credence to there being continual occupation in the area for well over 2000 years.
