Ole H. Olson

Ole H. Olson (September 19, 1872–January 29, 1954) was born in Mondovi, Wisconsin. After graduating from Concordia College, he moved to North Dakota in 1892. He homesteaded in Eddy County, North Dakota, in 1895. Olson pursued a career in politics, and served in the North Dakota State House of Representatives from 1916 to 1918. He served in the North Dakota State Senate from 1918 to 1930. He took on a more prominent role on January 29, 1954) when he became the Lieutenant Governor of North Dakota. In 1934, governor William Langer was removed from office following a scandal, and Olson was sworn in as the eighteenth Governor of North Dakota. Olson served the remainder of the term of his predecessor, William Langer, when Langer was removed from office and sentenced to prison. Olson died in New Rockford, North Dakota on January 29, 1954 at the age of 81.
