Talk:Oliver Marcelle
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I didn't know what to do about the spelling of "Marcell" because different sites say different things.
Since the Baseball Hall of Fame website says "Marcell" with no "E" I took the liberty of changing it on the Baseball Hall of Fame balloting, 2006 article.
Baseballlibrary says "Marcell" also. But Blackbaseball.com says "Marcelle" with the "E". And so does nlbpa.com. Any way to know what's correct? TrafficBenBoy 23:17, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
- The Negro League Baseball Players Association [1] and BlackBaseball.com [2] both spell it Marcelle, as do Blackball Stars: Negro League Pioneers, The Biographical Encyclopedia of the Negro Baseball Leagues, and The Complete Book of Baseball's Negro Leagues: The Other Half of Baseball History, so I switched it back (the second book notes alternate spellings of both Marcell and Marcel). BaseballLibrary has a lot of typos here and there, and I think the HoF site spells it differently in different places. MisfitToys 21:05, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
