"Plug In Baby" is a single by the English rock band Muse from their second album, Origin of Symmetry. It was the first single that the band released from this album. The release date in the UK was 05 March 2001, and was released as a two-CD set and an accompanying limited edition 7" vinyl. The song also appears on the Hullabaloo Live DVD, and the Absolution DVD. There is a representation of three aliens on the single front cover.
It has been speculated that this song could be about Matt Bellamy's alleged addiction to porn, with a recurring theme of falseness and cleansing throughout. It could also be about his love for his electric guitar, and how he only has to plug it in and play, for all his critics to be proven wrong (crucifies my enemies). Bizarrely, it could be about genetically engineering puppies to remain young and live forever, as Matt Bellamy has stated jovially in a magazine interview.
This song is widely praised for its intro riff, almost instantly recognisable for use of a rising triad motif to move through a distinctively classical minor scale. It made it to #5 in Kerrang!'s Top 50 Riffs.
The B-side "Nature_1" featured on the Hullabaloo Soundtrack in the B-sides collection.
