"Starlight" is a song by English alternative rock band Muse and is the second track on their 2006 album Black Holes and Revelations. The song was also released as the second single from that album on September 4, 2006 in the United Kingdom, peaking at #13 in the UK Singles Chart (see 2006 in British music).[1] It was also the second single released in the United States, and became the band's highest-peaking single on the Modern Rock Tracks chart, reaching #2.[2] The song was first played live during the "Radio 1 big weekend" festival in summer 2006.

[edit] Music video
The band worked with Paul Minor on the music video for Starlight. The video shows the band playing on the deck of a Japanese bulk carrier.
Before its release, the video for "Starlight" was initially thought (or was otherwise speculated) to be a sequel to another of their videos with David Slade, "Sing for Absolution"[citation needed], although that claim seems to have been unfounded. (The largely computer-generated video for their single "Sing for Absolution" showed the band travelling through space aboard a rocket, eventually crash-landing on what appears to be either a deserted, post-apocalyptic Earth or the ruins of a parallel human civilization on Mars.)
[edit] Chart performance
"Starlight" entered the UK Singles Chart the week of September 3 at #38 via digital downloads. The following week, and the physical release in the UK, the single peaked at #13. Since then, the single's chart position steadily declined, and it remained in the Top 75 after fifteen weeks, during the week of 2006-12-11. The next week, "Starlight" had fallen out of the Top 75.
