Psycho-Cybernetics
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Psycho-Cybernetics is a famous yet enigmatic book on self-improvement, written by Maxwell Maltz in 1960 in an attempt to combine the cognitive therapy of Prescott Lecky with the cybernetics of Norbert Wiener and John von Neumann.
The philosophy of the book appears to be based on what literature critic Harold Bloom refers to as American gnosticism, i.e. what he considers to be the religion of Ralph Waldo Emerson and William James as opposed to traditional Christianity. Others have referred to this as Transcendentalism.
In 2002 a global on-line discussion forum was established, with the purpose of trying to find the hidden meanings of the book.
