Purple was the second CD released by the 1990's grunge band Stone Temple Pilots, on June 7, 1994, by Atlantic Records. It contains several of the band's biggest hit songs, including "Vasoline," "Interstate Love Song," and "Big Empty," which was also featured on The Crow soundtrack.
The album title, "Purple," is written as a Chinese character (紫) on the cover, and nowhere else on the packaging (including along the spine). When asked about the title in an interview, Scott Weiland replied "It's my favorite color. It's the color of bruises."
In 2006, the album was ranked number 73 on Guitar World magazine's list of the greatest 100 guitar albums of all time.[1]
