Album "Facelift" był debiutanckim albumem grupy Alice In Chains. Dominuje tu ciężka muzyka - riffy i solówki grane przez Jerry'ego Cantrell'a zagrane są w bardzo niskim tonie. Wokal Layne'a Staley'a doskonale współgra z gitarą Cantrell'a. Większość utworów jest dość powolna, wyjątkiem jest "I Know Somethin' ('Bout You), w którym riff jest grany dość szybko.
