Michael Brecker

Michael Brecker (Filadélfia, 29 de Março de 1949 - 13 de Janeiro de 2007) foi provavelmente o mais respeitado e imitado saxofonista de jazz da era pós-Coltrane. Até 2005 tinha ganhado onze Grammys como músico e compositor.

Michael começou no final dos anos 60 tocando em bandas de rock, soul, R&B e fusion. Em 1970 se mudou para Nova Iorque onde tocou com Horace Silver e Billy Cobham, e liderou juntamente com seu irmão, o trompetista Randy Brecker o grupo de fusion The Brecker Brothers.
Tocou com o Steps Ahead e gravou com Pat Metheny, Chick Corea e Herbie Hancock.
Foi diagnosticado como portador da "Síndrome Mielodisplásica" (SMD). Faleceu dessa doença em 13 de Janeiro de 2007 aos 57 anos.
