Villages in Råde:
[edit] The name
The municipality (originally the parish) is named after the old farm Råde (Norse Róða), since the first church was built here. The name is identical with the word róða f 'bar, pole, rod'. (Here referring to a long hill - the farm and the church is lying on the top of Raet.)
Until 1921 the name was written "Raade".
[edit] Coat-of-arms
The coat-of-arms is from modern times (1980). It shows a bar/rod. (See above under the name.)
