Railion
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Railion is a European (mainly German) railway cargo carrier. The name was probably intended to be a play on the English words "rely on", though the attempt was only partially succesful [1].
The present company is the result of the merger of DB Cargo AG with NS Cargo NV. It uses a different trading name in each country in which it operates, namely:
- Railion Deutschland in Germany
- Railion Nederland in the Netherlands
- Railion Danmark in Denmark
- Railion Italia in Italy since 2005
The holding company, Railion GmbH, is based in Mainz. 94% of the shares are held by DB AG, and the remaining 6% by NV Nederlandse Spoorwegen (Dutch Railways).
