Thanks for the suggestion and wise words. The block gave me more time to read rules so in a way it was good. Watchdogb 20:15, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your comments

I believe you owe me an explanation for unnecessarily bringing my name in between an issue that not at all concerns me here. The issue was about Wikiraja's suspected sockpuppets and mention of my name there is uncalled for. Awaiting your response. Gnanapiti 20:58, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Are you sure that Ganapati is you because I thought you are Gnanapiti ? If you are Ganapati also, then my apologies. RaveenS 21:16, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Need your input

I have finnished creating the Notable_assassinations_of_the_Sri_Lankan_Civil_War article per the concensus we reached. I need your opinion as to proceed further with the re directs to this neutral article. Thanks RaveenS 20:37, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi Raveen, great work with the article, it's undeniably neutral, I created a new template to cover the disputed statements i.e. {{Disputable}}, and used it wherever required, because the asterisk wasn't very clear, I will help you find more references for the article, I will also link it to the Sri Lankan Conflict template. ŇëŧΜǒńğëŗTalk 07:23, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Yeah now it's good. I have replaced another two asterisks with {{Disputable}}. --♪♫ ĽąĦĩŘǔ ♫♪ walkie-talkie 10:13, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Archives

Hi Raveen, I noticed that you are creating your archive pages by appending numbers after your talk page url, i.e. User talk:RaveenS archive 1 etc. However, the sub-pages are supposed to be created under your user space, by appending a / after your talk page url and then providing a descriptive name. (example User talk:RaveenS/archive1). The problem with your current style is that you are using another user talk page to store your archives. The related guideline can be found at Wikipedia:Subpages. Thank you. --Ragib 05:45, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi Raveen - I have fixed this problem that Ragib has pointed out. Hope you don't mind. Rama's arrow 13:12, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Please reconsider your vote to merge Human rights in pre-Saddam Iraq

Hi RaveenS,

I've just put a lot of work into improving Human rights in pre-Saddam Iraq so that the article is not now anything like what it was when you voted to merge. I think it may meet your objections to it, so please take another look and see what you think. I'm still not satisfied with the article, but it has roughly the proper scope and many more reliable sources. I think what I've done shows that there's too much material out there to merge this article with anything else. Significant gaps remain and some subjects should have footnotes from more sources, but I think the article is several steps toward what it should be. Best, Noroton 22:44, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks much! Noroton 22:49, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ronnie Govender

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Ronnie Govender, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. [edit] A very important question, since no one answers on the article talk pages!

I have noticed that on Wikipedia on most other articles for example (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Enduring_Freedom) the claims made by the terrorist groups (or groups identified as terrorists by the international community) aren't represented, at ALL! So why are the LTTE claims constantly pushed through in these articles? This is not a political propaganda machine nor is it a discussion forum for opinion. In the above article I cited, and many more like it, the claims of the US government are pretty much treated as fact. If so why is it that when the Sri Lankan government statements are shown, the counter-claim by the terrorist group LTTE always appears next to it? I'm not saying that the SLGov claims should be treated as fact, what I am saying is there is no place on an encyclopedia for terrorist claims. SO either change the US related articles to include claims by AL-Qaeda, Osama Bin Laden, Hammas, Taliban etc etc, or get rid of the LTTE claims... its about consistency people!!!! [edit] Mary Bastian

Hi Raveen, Thanks for the heads-up on the Mary Bastian article. I did a little research when the {{hoax}} tag was applied, and I've been meaning to get back to the article, but non-wiki life has been pressing. I agree that a "third opinion" would be useful as the views of each side seem to be polarized. For the time being, may I suggest that "Mary Bastian" would be a better title for the article than "Murder of Mary Bastian"? Articles about victims of murder who became notable only after death seem to be more routinely titled by the person's name. (See Category:Unsolved_murders for some examples.) And in this case, since the exact nature of the disappearance is disputed, I think it's important not to imply more in the title than can be neutrally asserted in the body. "Alleged Murder of Mary Bastian" or "Disappearance of Mary Bastian", might be more appropriate. But I think "Mary Bastian" would be best of all: A comprehensive biography is not necessary to justify that title: It's to be hoped that a biography, like any article, will fill out over time. -- Shunpiker 02:39, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] russel arnold..reply

Can you please show us any evidence justifying tagging him a tamil? Just because he has a Tamil like(?!!) name doesn't prove anything. For my knowledge he does not consider him self Tamil.M.K. Stalin is the son of M. Karunanidhi. Are you saying he is Russian because he has a Russian name ?? I guess he must be, according to your beautiful logic !!! Iwazaki 会話。討論 00:34, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

First read WP:Civil before using words like beautiful logic second I am yet to run across Russian named Muthiah Karunanidhi Stalin, have you ? and I am yet to run across a Sinhalese named Pushakumaran but Pushpakumara is typically Sinhalese. Also did he call you personally to tell you that he does not consider himself a Tamil, do you have an e-mail or phone records ? Because we can use it in his article. Anyway if you want to claim a Jaffna Tamil Methodist as Sinhalese please go ahead. It is no different than the South Indian indentured workers who came to tap toddy, peel cinnammon and catch fish and work as mercenaries for the Sinhalese today claiming to be Sinhalese themselves in Sri Lanka through assimilation. I have no problems. Thanks RaveenS 14:35, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Your logic was beautiful, and I am not sure that would be uncivil..Is there a law to ban the word beautiful here ? I have met and talked to Mr Arnold and believe me he is 100% NOT tamil. Also I didn't know there is a policy for adding phone records and e-mail address in the WP:BIO's.Thanks for letting me know of it..The reason why I brought Mr Stalin into this, is to show you, names and races doesn't go parallel in every case..We may have names belong to other races or nationals, just like Mr stalin and Mr Arnold..Mr Arnold went to St Peters college and studied in Sinhalese, he does not consider him self a tamil..And shouldn't we respect this? Iwazaki 会話。討論 16:20, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
He told you ? now how can that be citable, I am a Tamil and my cousin went to Sinhalese school from grade 1 in Anuradhapura and finished his A/L’s inn St. Peters (Sinhala medium) , when the communal situation in Sri Lanka became tense he refused to identify him as a Tamil till he left SL for USA. In my school we had a Kumarakulasinghe and a Tisseverasinghe both Sinhalese sounding names but Tamils studying in Tamil medium. That is possible because Sinhalese are dominat in Sri Lanka and everyone becomes Sinhalese over a period of time, but except during the historic period especially in the Jaffna peninsula where Sinhalese became Tamils during post colonial period no non Tamil even remotedly has a Tamil name. It is always them trying hide their Tamil sounding names as a middle name. So I can understand why he would have preferred not to be known as Tamil to you. Also don’t think Alagakonanara is a Sinhalese name, it is pure Tamil name, meaning Beautiful King. On separate note on names there are Tamils with last name Fernando, Almeida (From Jaffna and Mannar) who are yet to become Sinhalese but do become Sinhalese as soon they start living in Colombo area. About Richard De Soyza is half Tamil, read his article, his mothers name is available.
Also about Tamil Net, I am not using it to establish article but only to explain verifiable events. An article with funeral photos of Nimalka Fernando and Nanayakara is verifiable. I changed the cause celebre to internationally known incident. Thanks RaveenS 16:39, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] cause celebre

A cause célèbre (of which the plural is causes célèbres) is an issue or incident arousing widespread controversy, outside campaigning and/or heated public debate. It is particularly used for famous long-running legal cases..I don't know what made you to tag every single rape incident as a cause celebre when most of them are certainly not..And also please refrain from giving citations from pro LTTE sites, we already had enough fun reading them.thanks--Iwazaki 会話。討論 16:07, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
