Although Gretna qualified for the UEFA Cup in 2005-2006 season after losing to Hearts in the Scottish Cup final (Hearts had already qualified for the UEFA Champions League), the stadium was deemed too small for UEFA Cup football. Gretna instead played their UEFA Cup match (a 1-5 defeat to Derry City) at Fir Park in Motherwell.
