Rhema Christian Ministries
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rhema Christian Ministries (Rhema) is a non-denominational, multi-ethnic church located in Toronto, Canada. Using a fresh and innovative approach to ministry, focused on relevance, empowerment and non denominationalism, Rhema has quickly become one of the fastest growing churches in the nation of Canada. Under the leadership of Pastor Orim M. Meikle, this vibrant and visionary church has etched itself into the Canadian landscape as a force to be reckoned with. From humble beginnings in the fall of 1999 with a small group of 20 faithful members meeting in the auditorium of a local high school Rhema’s congregation has grown to well over 2000 people, with a variety of weekly services in English as well as in Spanish.

[edit] COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT & MISSIONS
Not your typical religious establishment, Rhema is an organization with arms reaching into the areas of community, business, media and technology. Addressing social and economic disparity at home through the creation of employment, housing and educational programs in depressed communities within the city of Toronto, this ministry is seeking to create an environment of empowerment for all local citizenry. The ministry’s vision to “change and affect lives” is evidenced through its valiant effort to clean up the troubled streets of Toronto. Stretching internationally to address the socio-educational plight of orphaned children in the Dominican Republic; Rhema has completed its first overseas elementary school – Academia de La Montanita Cristiana. This institution has been designed to educate and equip orphaned children.
[edit] BILINGUAL SERVICES
Stretching even further, in the beginning of 2005 Rhema embarked on an ethnically new journey by being the first in Canada to incorporate a service conducted in Spanish into existing English-speaking services. This service, designed to accommodate the Hispanic parishioners at Rhema, is now well underway with lives being changed by its impact. It is the heart of Pastor Meikle to have the Hispanic community within the city and nation experience the power and presence of the Kingdom of God.
[edit] THE FUTURE
With plans to build and to grow even further it is apparent that Rhema Christian Ministries has transcended all cultural, denominational and traditional barriers, creating a fresh and innovative template for 21st century ministry in Canada. This ministry stands as a beacon on the leading edge of what God is doing in the earth through His Kingdom. It can only be stated that as for Rhema Ministries, “…nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them” Gen 11:6 RSV
