Richland Mall is a mall in Richland County, Ohio with over 60 stores and has 3 anchors. It is owned and managed by Centro Watt. It is located on the corner of West Fourth Street and Lexington-Springmill Road in Ontario, Ohio, and anchored by Macy's, JCPenney and Sears.
[edit] History
Richland Mall was built in 1969 as the first enclosed mall in North Central Ohio. Its original anchors were Lazarus, O'Neil's, and Sears. The Richland Mall Lazarus was that company's first store outside Columbus. The store's unique "high-hat" entrance tower remains visible for miles along U.S. Highway 30. JCPenney built a store in 1996, relocating from the nearby Kingsgate Mall in Mansfield, Ohio.
The Lazarus store became Macy'sin 2005, after briefly operating as Lazarus-Macy's from 2003-2005. The O'Neil's was renamed May Company in 1989 after O'Neil's was merged into that chain, and in 1993 May Company was merged into Kaufmann's and the store renamed once again. In 2006 the Kaufmann's store was renamed Macy's, and the existing Macy's location (previously known as Lazarus) was shuttered and the store sold to the mall.
The mall, which was renamed Westfield Shoppingtown Richland in 2002, is once again called Richland Mall following its sale to Centro Watt in 2006.
