Ripponlea is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is centered on the intersection of Glen Eira Road and Hotham Street, in the municipality of City of Port Phillip. In terms of its cadastral division, Ripponlea is in the parish of Prahran within the County of Bourke.
The suburb is named after Ripponlea railway station, which itself is named after the historic Rippon Lea Estate.
The estate takes its name from Emma Rippon, the mother the mansion's original owner, Frederick Sargood. After Sargood's death in 1903, some of his property was subdivided to form the current suburb of Ripponlea.
Since 1909, Ripponlea has been the site of Caulfield Grammar's Senior School. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation's Ripponlea television studios were built in 1954.
