Robby Roadsteamer
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Robby Roadsteamer is a Boston comedian and musician.
He used to own a popular comedy website called "The Cheese Factory of Fun and Love" for which he was the main writer. The site has now gone offline, but pages can be seen at the internet archive[1]. He currently co-hosts on a weeknight radio show (Wednesdays and Fridays, 7 PM - 12 AM with Hardy) on WBCN in Boston.
Originally the lead singer of a local band named the Sweatpant Boners, Roadsteamer has toured the United States behind his second solo album, The Heart of a Rhino, including stops on the Warped Tour. The band received praise when it came in second in WBCN Rock & Roll Rumble, including press in the Boston Globe and Boston Herald, and received some nationwide radio airplay, as well as a mention on VH1's Best Week Ever, for his single "I Put a Baby In You."
He has also acted as a master of ceremonies at various Boston-area music awards ceremonies, with one unusual achievement being awarding himself a Boston Music Award for Best Local Song by asking to present the trophy to the official winners (the Snow Leopards), and then, once the trophy was safely within his grasp, fleeing the venue and down Landsdowne Street and Brookline Avenue with it. (This is because he didn't win an award himself.) To make amends with the Snow Leopards, Robby invited the bass player of the band, Jimmy Jax, to The Stronghold to offer him a choice; The Boston Music Awards trophy that he'd taken, or a trophy that Robby, himself, constructed. You can find the video footage here.
