Talk:Rob Couhig
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The article at present needs work to conform to WP:NPOV; much reads like promotional material. I've made some work on it. I've removed the following section which seems like advertising praise that doesn't add any actual encyclopedic information about the subject. -- Infrogmation 13:39, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Couhig, still the risk taker
Vincent Provenza, a prominent New Orleans businessman, told Kathy Finn that his friend Couhig "takes risks — sometimes to the point where you wonder if he’s got his mind. . . . But risk, to him, is not so much an economic issue. The issue for him is whether this a good thing to do, and if it is, then it ought to succeed.”
Provenza said that the New Orleans area "could use more business people who are not paralyzed by fear of failure. Everywhere I go, I get the impression that people think New Orleans is a very laid-back Southern town, and we don’t make things happen here. Rob is just the opposite of that. He’s a deal maker. He makes things happen,” Provenza said in Finn's interview in bizneworleans.com.
- I think I've taken care of the most problematic parts, though the article could still use further work. -- Infrogmation 14:01, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
I've taken a stab at fixing the article; I hope that I've gotten rid of some of the problems with POV and unimportant/unencyclopedic material. It still needs work, though. Mainly, I think this article may be too long. I certainly think Couhig is prominent enough to warrant an article, but when you compare its length to articles on Marc Morial, Sidney Barthelemy, Ernest Morial, Moon Landrieu, etc. the differences are noticable. Does a failed mayoral candidate's article really need to be twice as long as articles on former mayors? Praxedis G 15:27, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your work. If the text is NPOV and doesn't stray too far into minutia, I don't think the length of the article is a problem-- it may be as much a case that we eventually could use fuller articles on the former mayors. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 18:13, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
- Good point. Expansion is probably better than deletion. I would eventually like to get around to working on some of these articles. I've done some work on Morrison, Schiro, Landrieu and Barthelemy; but I'd still like to work more on the two Morials.... Praxedis G 19:10, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
