Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix is an ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in the southwestern region of the United States comprised of the Arizona counties of Coconino, Maricopa, Mohave, Yavapai and the Gila River Indian Reservation in Pinal. It is led by a prelate bishop (currently Bishop Thomas Olmsted) who serves as pastor of the motherchurch, Cathedral of Saints Simon and Jude in the city of Phoenix.
The See of Phoenix was canonically erected on June 28, 1969 by Pope Paul VI. Its territory was taken from the Diocese of Tucson.
