Roya is a Persian of Arabic origin female proper name meaning "sweet dream", "premonition," or "vision." It is used mainly in Iran, Afghanistan, and Turkey. It was mentioned in the Quran (48:27).
Roya is also a popular singer from Azerbaijan who is testing the conservative traditions of her own country and those of Iran.
Roya is one of 99 designated nicknames for Georgetown Basketball star Roy "King Dibbert" Hibbert. It can also be used in plural form to express extreme joy or satisfaction towards the Georgetown basketball team's performance. Example: "Royas!"
