Sam Vokes (born October 21, 1989) is an English football player with Welsh dual nationality. He currently plays for Bournemouth. He studied at Priestlands School, and is currently at Brockenhurst College.
He made his debut for Bournemouth on 5 December 2006, against Nottingham Forest. Bournemouth won the game 2-0 and gave Forest their first away defeat of the season, even though the bulk of the starting line-up (including Vokes) were young and in-experienced such as Ryan Bertrand, Jack Cork, Jack Connolly and Brett Pitman. [1] His first goal for the Bournemouth first-team came in the 1-1 away draw against Gillingham F.C. on the 16th December 2006. On the 30th December 2006, he scored two goals in the 3-2 away defeat to Scunthorpe United.
On 6 February 2007 Vokes made his debut for the Wales Under-21 team against the Northern Ireland Under-21 team. Vokes made a great start to his international career by scoring a goal after 36 seconds in a 4-0 victory for Wales.
