Sandnessjøen

Sandnessjøen is the centre of the municipality of Alstahaug in the county of Nordland, Norway, with a population of 5,716. [1] Township was declared in 1999.
Sandnessjøen is located on the island of Alsten, where one can climb the characteristic mountain range De syv søstre (The Seven Sisters) reaching 1,072 meters above sea level.
Sandnessjøen was a separate municipality from 1899 to 1965, when it was incorporated into Alstahaug. [2] The municipality was named Stamnes from 1899 to 1948.
