Do we need to ref. stuff in this article? I removed "mentions company name" from the Bloomberg link - beasue this could get very messy "mentions time of abduction" etc... However if some brave soul wants to go to the <ref> format, then I don't see a problem.

I am not generally in favour of all that, as long as you are easily able to find the source you got the info from if challenged. But as this issue unravels over the next few days I'm sure someone will end up taking care of it - 'cos this is going to be big.

This article is a very slightly paraphrased version of the BBC article cited at the bottom. Unless I'm very mistaken, this is plagiarism and illegal, not to mention against Wikipedia policy.

I've put all times in 12 hour format (X:XX xm) at the moment because three out of four entries were already so. Personally I'd prefer to use 24 hour format. Is there any documented consensus within the community about either style and where to use them? ◄ИΞШSΜΛЯΞ► 02:29, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Edited to change Stockport (a town in the NW) to Stockbury (a village in Kent)
- The only similarity to Firewall is that the family of a bank exec was kidnapped. In this real-life incident, they were not held hostage to force the exec to do anything, there was no electronic transfer of funds, there was a physical robbery with people being bound, etc. The differences far outnumber the similarities; that section should probably be removed. -Big Smooth 23:08, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

Why there is no capital punishment in Britain? Attack on a souvereign nations bank system is a crime against the state that carries firing squad execution for capital treason in every country of the world where strong governments exists. You should see the recently made feature film about the big 1960's roumanian bank van robbery. The perpetrators were tortured and executed in the presence of communist dictator Nicolae Caucescu, but first forced to stage themselves in a documentary film meant to eductate the population on the futility of criminal lifestyle. 195.70.32.136 09:44, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Now it's just up to the security firm to hire an offbeat team of wisecracking mercenaries to get their money back. - Hostage takers are terrorists. Terrorists are hunted down by SWAT and unmanned drones all around the globe. Those two captured should be tortured, so they reveal where are the others and what happened to the money. When all of them are captured put them against the wall to face musketry. There will be no other bank robbery for a 100 years. Why is there ASBO to unduly punish troubled kids, when adult hostage takers are treated lightly? I must say islamic sharia is healthier with respect to theft and robbery punishment, no sissi factor.

It has been confirmed that the amount stolen was actually in the area of £50 million, I have not altered this information as I do not know how to translate £'s into foreign currencies exactly. Can someone please see to this, and alter the front page also? BritBoy 19:01, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

- I can't find anywhere where it has been confirmed it was this amount. I've edited the article accordingly but not to the point of reverting. Please include a reference! (I note that previous references have been removed)
If we catch them i think their punishment is to have all the money they stole changed in to pund coins and then get people to throw the coins at them. That would sort 'em out.
If estimated ammount stolen has a range of £25 million then the accuracy of any conversions should by quite innacurate. You cant make information more accurate by changing the currency. --82.38.56.218 08:12, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
- the amount should be listed second in usd, based on the exchange rate at the time of the crime. i mean, the usd is like a lingua franca defacto standard of money, but it's fluctuating against other forms, so it's a tough issue.
