Severo-Kurilsk

Severo-Kurilsk (Russian: Се́веро-Кури́льск; Japanese: 柏原, Kashiwabara) is a town in Sakhalin Oblast, Russia. It is the administrative center of Severo-Kurilsky District. Population: 2,592 (2002 Census); 5,180 (1989 Census).
The town is situated in the northern part of the Kuril Islands, on the island of Paramushir. It was under Japanese rule between 1875 and 1945.
