The Silesian Insurgents Monument in Katowice was designed by Gustaw Zemła - a sculptor, and Wojciech Zabłocki - an architect. It is considered to be one of the best designed Polish monuments and is presented very well exposed location. It is a harmonious combination of architecture and sculpture with an appropriate symbolism - the wings symbolize the three Silesian Uprisings 1919 - 1920 - 1921 while on the vertical slopes are names of places that were battlefields. It was funded by people from Warsaw for Upper Silesia and it is considered to be a landmark of the town.
