Sinfin Central station was in Sinfin Area in Derby. Originally the train went from Derby to Ashby de la Zouch but this route closed in 1930. Then in 1976 a workmen's train was introduced to serve the nearby Rolls-Royce factory. Despite Derby City Council's efforts to encourage usage of public transport, the service was very under-used. The route service eventually got reduced to 1 train per day in 1992. This ran until 1993, when the Derwent Valley Line, which connected with the Sinfin branch, changed to using Sprinter Units. Sprinters were not permitted on the branch because of poor signalling. The train service was then replaced by a taxi service. This was in use until 1998, when the line was officially closed.
