Sky Two is a British television channel, known when it first launched as Sky One Mix and subsequently simply Sky Mix. It was assigned its current name in 2005.
Sky Two is essentially a "catch-up" service for Sky's main entertainment channel, broadcasting popular Sky One shows a few days after their original airing. It has also been described as a timeshuffle channel, so called to distinguish it from other channels like E4 and LIVING which broadcast on a timeshift basis (i.e. they have sister channels showing the same programming 1 hour or so later). The channel is only available to paying Sky subscribers and is found on Sky Digital channel 107, next to Sky One and NTL Ireland channel 115.
Sky Two carries some programming from Sky Travel and Sky Vegas Live, but the majority of its output falls under the heading of general entertainment, with "second chance" airings of shows like LOST, Stargate SG-1 and Futurama, although The Simpsons, a Sky One staple, is notable by its absence. Richard Woolfe, Sky director of programming, has been quoted as saying that the channel will also broadcast spin-off programmes from Sky One shows.
On Thursday 1st March 2007, Virgin Media removed Sky's basic channels including Sky One, Sky Two, Sky News, Sky Sports News, Sky Travel and Sky Travel Extra, from their Television Services after a dispute between Virgin Media and BSkyB caused by the expiry of their carriage agreement and their inability to reach a new deal [2], but attempts are being reach an agreement. At Midnight, Sky Two was removed, and the name of the station in the electronic programming guide was changed to "OLD SKY TWO TRY LIVING".
